Welcome to Jean Myers |
Huyton Today reporter Laura Richardson took the opportunity to chat with the new Partnership Manager Jean Myers about her role in the area. Jean told our reporter, I really enjoy my work, mainly because it involves working with people. For me, it wouldnt be the same if the SRB in Huyton were all about buildings and not people. There are lots of good projects like the community newspaper, Stepping Stones and Huyton Churches. Also, projects like The Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals where lots of people take their pets as it is local and saves going to the centre of Liverpool. More importantly it involves taking people from a Huyton environment and giving them training. Jean explained to us that she had been working in Liverpool for about six months, but in that time had certainly noticed many differences. I think people show their enthusiasm in different ways and I think the biggest reward is watching people come in at the end of the regeneration process and doing things themselves without any intervention from agencies. The rest of the team have been here for about 5 years. I suppose I have the luxury of looking at what other people have achieved. I'm proud that in Huyton, people have approached regeneration in a very different way. The improvements are really worthwhile. Jean felt that the continuing commitment to regeneration is vital, We always make sure everyone does their bit. It's a balance of sharing the experience between different agencies. Huyton Today wishes Jean well for the future and was extremely grateful that she took time from her busy schedule to come to our offices. We look forward to continued involvement in all aspects of the Partnership. |
