Keylink is the Key

Some very exciting things have been happening on the media front in Knowsley recently. Keylink Studios in Kirkby have been busy working with various groups across the borough to produce television programming for Knowsley’s very own interactive community information service. This is a unique service, which enables all community organisations to promote the work they are doing across the borough.

Funded by European Regional Development Funding - ERDF-and in partnership with the local authority, Knowsley Community College and Telewest, Keylink has been able to offer this service at no cost to the organisations. The project has not only created employment opportunities but also provided Keylink's trainees with valuable hands on experience of the media industry.

This opportunity has been extended to a group of young people from Knowsley Hey School in Huyton. Working with video professionals from Keylink the group will produce their own programme about their involvement in Huyton Today. The group will get to use professional digital video equipment and be responsible for the production from start to finish. It is hoped that the skills they learn will be put to good use as the school has invested in its own video equipment.

A decision about future funding for the Community Broadcast Project is expected in the coming weeks. If successful, the continued funding will enable Keylink to work with schools, community groups and community businesses. They also will want to hear from anyone who has an interesting story to tell.
