Young designers take on K'NEX challenge

On Thursday 14th June three local primary schools took part in the grand final of the K’NEX 2001 Challenge (organised by Merseyside SATRO) at Knowsley Hey School.

To determine who would make it to the grand final each school held its own K’NEX Challenge where teams of two pupils had to design and make a working model using a K’NEX construction kit. A representative from various local Knowsley industries visited each of the schools to help the pupils with their projects.

The pupils design brief for the grand final was to design and build a working model of a fair ground attraction using K'NEX. During the afternoon some unique and imaginative designs began to emerge. These ranged from Ferris wheels, carousels and even a bungee jump!

After an eventful and creative afternoon the judging panel of industrialists had to make their decision and pick a winning project from each school. After some deliberation the winners were selected and presented with a K’NEX kit as their reward.

Perhaps we are looking at the designers of the future.
