Mab Lane Community Event

On Saturday 24th June the local community surrounding Mab Lane, was out in force at a fun day arranged to promote the development of a Doorstep Green Project on Mab Lane Fields.

There was a kite show, football tournament, belly dancing, boxing display and face painting and everyone was welcome.

Diane Bemand of the Liverpool East Area Partnership said, “The idea was to bring different communities together and get their ideas on our plans and add some ideas of their own. The Doorstep Green will be created by the community, for the community.”

John Jennings from the Dovecote and Princess Drive Community Association, one of the other partners in the initiative added, “Currently the fields are not used as a community facility. There is bad drainage, no wildlife and a bad reputation for abandoned cars. This project will allow us the opportunity to make the most out of a potentially beautiful open space.”

The group will be bidding to The Countryside Agency for funds to develop the area and the fun day was the start of getting local people involved in the process.

For further information about the project contact Diane Bemand on 0151 906 6803, or John Jennings on 0151 228 1082.
