106 Years Young

A Huyton woman, Mary Johnston, celebrated her 106th birthday with a visit from Knowsley's Mayor Councillor, Dave Friar, and the Mayoress, Jackie Friar, to wish her a very happy birthday. They presented Mary with flowers and a specially produced card.

Mary lives at St. Bartholomews Court Nursing Home in Huyton. Although she was born in Ireland, she moved to London as a young girl and later to Thingwall, Wirral, where she lived for over seventy years.

Mary is still interested in all things horticultural, as she loved gardening when she was younger. Her late husband, John was chairman of the former Huyton Council.

In Mary's lifetime, she has experienced two World Wars, the introduction of votes for women and many more things besides!
