The future of reading?
|
A ground-breaking reading project was launched recently at a Special Education School in Knowsley. On 4th July American authors Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore used giant screens to present two books that are to be used in conjunction with the Internet at Alt Bridge Secondary Support Centre, Huyton. The Outernet is brand new series of titles, launched simultaneously in the UK and the USA. Not only are they great stories to be enjoyed in their own right, but there is a whole new dimension to them in that they use internet passwords that link to the website (www.go2outer.net/rep). The books are aimed at 8-12 year olds who are reluctant readers. The aim is to encourage computer literacy and creativity through writing their own Outernet sites and stories. |
