At The Gallop

At The GallopMaureen Collins is preparing for her big day as a competitor in a three-day horse event in the Para-Olympic Games to be held in 2004.

A learning mentor by day at Brookside primary in Stockbridge Village, Maureen fits in her valued role at school alongside a busy home life and of course her horses. And, not only is she a talented horsewoman but she also breaks in and trains her own mounts.

“Dressage, the skill of accurate movement by a horse, is my favourite discipline of the three day event. When coupled with a cross-country and a show-jumping course it makes for a really demanding test for both the horse and the rider,” said Maureen.

Huyton Today wishes Maureen the best of luck as she prepares for the games.
