All Aboard the Knowsley Jobs Bus |
Following the success of their first Jobs Bus, a second Action for Jobs bus took to the streets of Knowsley recently. Launched at a special event held in Huyton village on 3rd March, the bus is a mobile community recruitment centre that brings vacancies and opportunities to local residents. The new bus, which contains a television, overhead projector, power supply, toilet and kitchen, will be used by both the Action for Jobs team and local employers to promote job opportunities in Knowsley. The bus will visit all the town centres in Knowsley on a regular basis, as well as housing estates and other areas. Both buses are available to be used by community groups and employers. The Action for Jobs team can provide support to enable groups and organisations to promote their events to local residents in a friendly and easily accessible environment. Marketing and Publicity Manager Johanne Brown told Huyton Today, So far we have had a really good response to the buses. In fact, we got one local resident back into work on the day of the launch. Action for Jobs operates as part of the Jobcentre Plus network. Action Teams work in the community to help people who dont or can’t access Jobcentre services. Clients can see advisors to discuss their individual needs and receive advice and financial help to overcome barriers to work. Local people can find out more by listening in to the daily Job Spot on KCR 106.7FM each day at 10:45 and 12:45. Or you can contact Action for Jobs direct on 0800 085 4612. As their slogan says, the Action for Jobs team are dedicated to finding “the right person for the right job”, and, having got over 1,400 residents back on the road to work since October 2000, they are certainly keeping to their word. |
