Women’s Loss is Charity’s Gain

Thirteen local women have shed an amazing 200lb in order to compete in the Liverpool Women’s 10K race.

Julie Smith and twelve courageous colleagues from the Huyton Park Conservative Club Weight Watchers Group trained hard to both lose weight and get fit for their big challenge: to run the 10K. They decided to redouble their efforts and raise much needed funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Says Julie, “We all thought it would be a great way to lose weight and help Marie Curie continue to care for local people affected by cancer.”

Altbridge Support School, Huyton, also contributed a magnificant £250 to the grand total. Christine O’Sullivan, Community Fundraising Manager said, “We are thrilled with the girls’ initiative and want to congratulate them on completing this prestigious event.”

“The money they raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care maintain its vital services, which are provided free of charge to local people with cancer.”
