Forty of Knowsley's 'lollipop' stalwarts were honoured recently for their tireless dedication to children and the community. All have long service and dedication to their role, with Jean Phillips from Kirkby being listed in this year's New Years Honours with an MBE. At a special reception in their honour, Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Steve Byron paid tribute to the work of the School Crossing Patrol staff - better known as "Lollipop" ladies and gents. He commented, "They really are the unsung heroes of our generation. Children everywhere look forward to crossing with 'Lolly' as they are always cheerful and friendly while providing such an essential safety service." |
