Thanks to the efforts of local residents, a new organisation has been established in Stockbridge Village to assist with the future development of the village and its communities.
Stockbridge Community Action is managed by a board of volunteers and has secured Urban and SRB funding to carry out its work. Two new appointments have been made: Joanne Lawler, Community Development Worker, and Shirley Oliver, Administrative Support Worker.
Both Shirley and Joanne live in Stockbridge and have first hand experience of the needs and concerns of the communities they will be working with.
Joanne Lawler has worked in the area for several years as a Youth & Community Worker. She plans to work with existing groups and help with the setting up of new ones, offering advice on training, fundraising and their organisation.
The aims of the SCA are based on the findings of a recent survey conducted by Liverpool Hope University. This survey identified the needs and aspirations of residents and communities of Stockbridge, giving the board a clear idea of the role the SCA will play.
The SCA is currently negotiating the tenancy of the St Jude's Vicarage in Round Hey, which they hope to make available to residents and groups for events and meetings.
