Customers using this new facility will be able to access it from their own computer or from any of the public computer suites in libraries across Knowsley - free of charge.
Renowned for its innovative use of IT in a host of pioneering projects, Knowsley has been recognised in several national award competitions. It has one of the largest public computer suites in the country - over 40, with half having Internet and e-mail access - available for free - in Huyton Library alone.
"Knowsley has the most developed on-line repairs reporting system anywhere," commented Mike Kean from Knowsley's Housing Department.
"All tenants have to do is use a pictorial system clicking on the area which is faulty whether it be a sink, bath, roof etc. The website then takes the customer through a series of pictorial indicators to identify the problem. This is then automatically e-mailed to the relevant housing depot for processing. Access to the system is easy on Knowsley's website - www.knowsley.gov.uk"
The repairs facility is one of the many groundbreaking projects sponsored by Knowsley's Community Information Programme (CIP) which specifically aims to make the Council more approachable for the people of Knowsley.
