[Select Boxing winners]

BOXING

The second Knowsley Select Boxing Show took place at Kirkby Sports Centre on Friday 8th October with competitors from all of the seven amateur boxing clubs in Knowsley involved.

The show was a joint venture between the Knowsley Select ABC and the Events Sections of Knowsley MBC Leisure and Community Services Department.

Chess players of all ages converged on the Huyton Suite on Sunday 7th November. A total of 114 competitors from all corners of England including London, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside took part in the second Knowsley Rapid Play Chess Tournament.

The tournament was a huge success and attracted sponsorship from Barclaycard, BLCC, Whitbread, AEEU and Hayes & Finch.

Next year’s Millennium Rapid Play Chess Tournament will be held in the Huyton Suite on Sunday 5th November 2000.
