CICK-Starting Creative Industries in Knowsley |
Over 1000 people are expected to attend an event in Knowsley which aims to promote a £60 billion per annum industry sector that is currently growing twice as fast as the national economy. CICK 2000 will be held at Knowsley Community College, Rupert Road, Huyton on Thursday, 13th April from 9.30am - 4.30pm. An Information Fair and workshops will form the backdrop to the event which highlights career opportunities in Creative Industries. Media and Broadcasting, Performing Arts, Publishing and Design Industries are all part of this business sector that is set to flourish in Knowsley. Knowsley Council, Knowsley Compact and Knowsley Community College have worked in partnership to organise the event which will support and inform young people who are interested in pursuing a future in Creative Industries.Schools from across Knowsley will attend the various workshops whilst members of the public are invited to visit the Information Fair. Organisations and businesses from across the region will offer advice on funding opportunities, training and further education courses at the daylong event. Cllr Joan Quilliam, Vice-Chair of Knowsley Councils Leisure and Community Services Committee, said, Knowsley Council is undertaking an ongoing development programme to create a sustainable and profitable Creative Industries (CI) sector within the borough. Thanks to our partners and other agencies involved in the event, we are confident it will lift the profile of the sector and provide schoolchildren and people interested in creative industries with an insight into the career opportunities available to them. Admission to the event is free and members of the press are welcome. |
