Huyton With Roby FieldResidents in Roby could soon benefit from a new safe play area thanks to a deal currently being negotiated between Huyton with Roby School, the local community, Huyton Community Partnership Ltd, and KMBC. The proposal is to put part of the school field into trust which will be managed by representatives of the school, KMBC, Huyton Community Partnerships Ltd and local residents. Local people will be consulted about possible uses for the field, which include the development of a safe play area for younger children. Community DirectoryHuyton has a wealth of local and voluntary groups covering almost every conceivable area of interest. But just how does anyone go about finding the right group to contact? That is a question asked by Pathways representatives several years ago, which led to the setting up of a team of volunteers to undertake the arduous task of compiling a directory of community groups in the area. With the help of Knowsley Council’s Information Services, this new directory will shortly been included in Community Information pages of the Knowsley Council web site under the Huyton Community page. The directory is due to be launched at a special presentation involving representatives of local community groups at the end of April. All those involved in the project received special training and many of the team have found permanent employment as a result. For more information about the Community Directory and to check whether your group is listed or not, visit the website at http://www.knowskey.gov.uk/community or phone Jackie Patterson on 0151 443 0694.
