Alt 2000 Activity Week

Alt 2000, one of the River Valley initiatives forming part of the Mersey Basin Campaign, is holding a special Alt 2000 week between Saturday 8th July and Sunday 16th July 2000.

The River Alt has now entered into a new era, due to the work of the River Alt 2000 clean up campaign it is cleaner than it has been for many years. This is why Alt 2000 have decided to celebrate by holding a week of events to promote its success so far.

The week of events include Source to Sea trips along the River Alt, clean ups of litter hotspots, a fun run to celebrate the work completed on Kirkby Brook in Kirkby, and fun days in both Huyton and Croxteth. During Alt 2000 week an opportunity will be taken to bring attention to environmental improvements and education initiatives that are taking place.

On Sunday 16th July a special Alt 2000 marquee will be erected in Croxteth Country Park and will feature fun and games for all ages including a giant snakes and ladders board game, bug hunts and environmental games as well as river dipping and the Annual Alt Duck Race. These activities, together with craft stalls, fairground rides, falconry displays, and Morris dancing all promise a fun packed day out for all the family.

Everybody and anybody can get involved with all of the events listed so please come along and join in the celebration.
