Books on the Move

Knowsley’s Library Service for the housebound - which can open a whole new world to people confined to their home - is on the move.

The service has relocated from Whiston to Kirkby Library to make way for a new Learning Resource Centre at Whiston Library. The centre, which will contain about 20 computers for public use, is expected to be open by the summer.

The Housebound Service is available to anyone throughout the Borough who is unable to get out and about. It provides regular home deliveries of books to people who would otherwise find it difficult to visit their local library. Books can be supplied in either normal or large print and in talking book format.

The service can be provided on a temporary basis, for instance to someone recuperating from an operation. It is also available to children and to nursing and residential homes.

Anyone who feels that they would benefit from the service can call 0151 443 4223 for further information.
