Pupils at the Elms enjoy the facilities of the multi-sensory room

The Elms School, at the heart of Stockbridge Village, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The school is having an ‘Open Week’ from the 2nd - 7th of October to mark the occasion and all visitors are welcome.

The school has excellent facilities including a swimming and hydrotherapy pool, Sports Hall and Sensory Room. Many of the facilities are accessed by the local community.

The school also has extensive links with mainstream schools in Knowsley. At the present time Elms pupils integrate into Brookside, St Albert’s, Nine Trees, St Brigid’s, Parkview, St Gabriel’s, Halsnead, Mosscroft, St Mark’s, Westvale, Sacred Heart, Simonswood and St Peter and Paul’s Primary schools. In the secondary school sector, pupils from The Elms attend Knowsley Hey, Halewood Comprehensive, Prescot School, Ruffwood, Brookfield and All Saints school for particular lessons. This provides the pupils with opportunities to participate in subjects where they have strengths. This builds their self-esteem and confidence.

The school follows the National Curriculum which is differentiated to meet the needs of the pupils in the school. A recent OFSTED inspection reported that “pupils achieve well because quality teaching leads to very good attitudes to learning. The curriculum is very well designed and extended to meet the needs of all pupils.”

“The excellent relationships between pupils and staff creates an environment where pupils feel secure and respected.”

The school participates in many extra curricular activities, making use of the mini-buses to experience activities in the local community and to participate in sporting events. In a recent tournament for Merseyside Schools The Elms Kwik Cricket Team came first in their sector.
