Prescot School becomes Language College

Prescot School is one of only 14 establishments across the country to be awarded Language College status by the Department of Education and Employment (DfEE).

The school’s new status will see them giving young people in Prescot an appreciation and understanding of the importance of language in the modern world. In particular, the Language College will be using information and communications technology to make contacts with other people worldwide.

Prescot School is also planning to share its expertise with other secondary schools and extend language teaching into primary schools as well as supporting training needs of local businesses and the community in general.

Lynn Heath, Headteacher commented, “2001 is designated as the European Year of Languages and we hope that Prescot School will play a key role during this special year.”
