Enterprising staff and clients at the Stockbridge Village Centre have recently secured the help of a local business in supporting their candle making venture. Candlemakers Hayes & Finch have offered to supply wax at cost price, allowing the centre to continue providing this popular activity.

Support worker Ken Smith explained, “The generosity of Hayes & Finch means that we can carry on providing this activity for our clients and raising money for the centre.”

Ken and his “team” are currently working on producing a new range of Chinese lanterns while their workshop undergoes extensive refurbishment.

Around thirty people with disabilities use the facilities at the centre which provides a wide range of activities, including floristry, computer training, gardening, catering, dough craft and woodworking.

Under the label “Village Inspirations”, the centre’s craft products are sold at a variety of events and gala days throughout the year. Support worker Irene Kelly outlined their plans for the future, “We are hoping to move to a new location which will provide easier access for customers and better facilities for clients.”
