St Gabriel's Artwork

The day-to-day life of pupils and teachers in St Gabriel’s Primary School in Huyton has been preserved as a giant work of art. The project was organised by Environmental Artist Nancie Price who works with children to develop their ideas for improving their school playgrounds. Nancie organised parents to paint a 6 metre mural showing life in the school. She said, “Groups of parents worked on painting the mural of their children’s designs. Art can be an excellent medium for bringing people together and organising them to work on projects which benefit their own communities.” One of the features of the mural is a portrait of teacher, Neil Dixon, who said of the artwork, “I think it’s a wonderful painting that reflects the vibrancy and imagination of the pupils.” “The children feel very proud to see their artwork produced as a permanent feature in the school.”
