Pupils from St Gabriel’s CE Primary School raised the roof at the Philharmonic Hall this November. The school's choir represented Knowsley at the prestigious “Mersey Plus” Melody concert held on Sunday 18th November.

Over 600 children from all over the North West took part in the concert, which was organised by the Vivace Charitable Trust. St Gabriel’s took part in four songs with other choirs before wowing the audience with their very own ‘Hippopotamus Song’. The 750 parents and dignitaries gave this song the best reaction of the evening.

The Vivace Trust was so impressed that they awarded St Gabriel’s a certificate for a “wonderful, highly professional performance.”

Miss Simmons and Mrs Turton, the St Gabriel’s choir leaders are understandably delighted with the children's performance.

“A very high standard of singing has been achieved by the choir and the children are looking forward to taking part in more events like the one in the Philharmonic,” said Headteacher Mr Brayshaw.

Word of St Gabriel’s achievement has spread and on a recent visit to the school, Mr Steve Munby, the Director of Education for Knowsley, was delighted to officially present the certificate to the choir.
