Pupils at Knowsley Hey School recently enjoyed a sneak preview of the unique facilities to be provided by Huyton's forthcoming City Learning Centre. The CLC will provide state-of-the-art media, IT and other educational facilities for Huyton residents and pupils.

picturePupils took part in a demonstration of a ‘Virtual Studio’. This groundbreaking equipment allows pupils to be projected against 3D ‘virtual’ backgrounds and even to interact with virtual objects. Another exciting feature of this technology is the ability to project people into 3D moving video backgrounds.

From creating realistic television news studios to sci-fi movie backgrounds, the educational possibilities are almost boundless.

Huyton’s CLC will be based in Knowsley Hey School and is due to open in Autumn 2002, with construction beginning in the new year.

CLCs are promoted as part of the Government’s drive for lifelong learning and increased computer literacy. The CLC in neighbouring Whiston has so far proved to be a tremendous success.
