Jim Bennett became the latest in a long tradition of writers-in-residence at Knowsley Hey School to help the youngsters celebrate this special day.

Jim has many talents, as reporters interviewing him discovered, including poetry and song writing and teaching creative writing at Liverpool University. He writes articles for local newspapers, including the Liverpool Echo, and entertained pupils ranging from year 7 to year 11. He explained to reporter Vicky Hakkesteeg that he has worked in schools, shops and even streets on previous World Book Days, and told her how much he enjoys visiting schools to spread enthusiasm for books and writing to as many youngsters as possible.

Pupils certainly agreed that his visit was a great success, and hope to see him return to Hey in the future.
