When told by his teacher Mrs Clapham to practise his writing, pupil Michael Smith took the unusual decision to write to famous people and tell them what he was doing and about himself. Michael told them about his love of football and his ambition to be a footballer.

Michael, a year 3 pupil at Malvern Primary School, with help from his Dad, wrote to The Queen, Prince Charles, Michael Owen, George Bush and Tony Blair. So far he has had replies from the Queen, Tony Blair and Prince Charles.

In his reply, Prince Charles told Michael about his love of gardening and that he enjoyed being a prince.

Michael told Huyton Today that he would like to write a book when he is older.
